Juri Tetzlaff was born in Karlsruhe in 1972 into a musical family; his father is a cellist and his mother a singer. Parallel to his studies in social and business communication at the Berlin University of the Arts, he started his television career in 1994 as a presenter of children’s and youth programs. Juri Tetzlaff is the founding presenter of the children’s TV station KiKA and puts around one million children to bed every day.

Generations of viewers know him as a charismatic entertainer. In addition to his on-screen work as a presenter, singer and storyteller, he works as a scriptwriter and director for television productions. Since 2001, Juri Tetzlaff has been conceiving and presenting classical concerts for the whole family. His arrangements of Peter and the Wolf, Carnival of the Animals, Hansel and Gretel and The Firebird have appeared on CD. In 2014 he was awarded the Echo “Classical Music for Children”. With over 100 concerts a year throughout Germany, he is one of the most sought-after classical music promoters in the republic.
