Draiflessen Conference once again proved to be a place for special music enjoyment. In the foyer of the Draiflessen Collection an extraordinary jazz concert took place on 11 in front of about 100 spectators.

Internationally renowned bassist Dieter Ilg joined Rainer Böhm, a prominent jazz pianist, and the extroverted Frenchman Patrice Héral on drums to perform well-known works by Johann Sebastian Bach, which Ilg reworked for jazz. Essentially, the artists, who are not only virtuosic but also very likeable, were concerned with making old familiar sounds resound anew with tremendous improvisational artistry. The musical basis was the Goldberg editions and the Well-Tempered Clavier.

In good jazz style, each instrument got its solo part, in which each of the three artists shone. Rainer Böhm improvised with soothing clarity on the grand piano, Dieter Ilg literally melted into his big double bass, and Patrice Héral demonstrated his outstanding sense of timing and percussion with great humor. The trio proved to be masters of fading to the last note. The audience was so carried away that it was sometimes difficult to wait until the end with the rapturous applause in gratitude for so much musical sensitivity and creativity. An all-around successful evening, where artists, audience and organizers merged into one.
