Jazz with vocals | piano | guitar

Alma Naidu and Andreas Dombert are among the outstanding musicians on the German jazz scene. Both have been awarded Bavarian art prizes and were members of the German National Jazz Orchestra. Their joint performance is inspiring music-making at eye level. Both are influenced by classical music and jazz, the musical spectrum in wordless understanding enables exciting and surprising sounds that always go to the heart.

Alma Naidu is one of the “most promising singers on the German scene”, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Born in 1995, she is far more than just an exceptional singer: as a vocal virtuoso, pianist and composer, she manages to convey profound emotions with her fine timbre. Her music moves in dynamic waves between melancholy and powerful intensity – sometimes rocking, sometimes poppy, always wonderfully soulful and of course jazzy through and through. She was already on stage as a jazz and pop singer at the age of 15 and began writing her own songs.

But it’s not just her voice that impresses. Naidu’s compositions are subtle, variable songwriter jazz with extraordinary lyrics. Jazzthing describes her voice as “delicate, beautifully clear and absolutely intonation-proof”, with a dynamic that ranges from a breathy whisper to a powerful outburst.

Alma Naidu has won the 3rd prize at the Kurt Maas Jazz Award, the BMW Young Artist Jazz Award and the Art Promotion Prize of the Free State of Bavaria, among others.

With genius, drama and loving sensuality, Andreas Dombert is one of the most innovative voices on the German guitar scene. Born in Straubing in 1979, the guitarist, who began his musical training with classical piano, later studied jazz guitar at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music. In recent years, Dombert has worked with international greats such as Pat Martino, Larry Coryell, Philip Catherine, Ulf Wakenius and Airto Moreira. He performs on top-class festival stages with his “Night of Jazz Guitars” formation.

His musical language, characterized by warm melancholy and a fine sense for powerful melodies, is not only evident in classical jazz, but also in pop, jazz metal and minimal music. Dombert knows how to emphasize the essentials with his own compositions and create musical processes that slowly change their space – an oversupply of time in a hectic world. This approach allows tones and sounds to float almost weightlessly through space.

The recipient of several awards – including the Upper Palatinate Culture Prize and the Regensburg Culture Promotion Prize – Dombert has also been furthering his studies in musicology and philosophy at the University of Regensburg for several years. His multifaceted artistic career and tireless drive make him a true painter of timbre and poet of sound, whose musical vision constantly redefines the boundaries of the genre.
