The concert in St. Agatha’s Church began with a cheerful welcome by Christoph Dingler to the more than 200 guests. Marie-Luise Dingler, who self-ironically introduced herself as Christoph’s big sister, recited the first of the four sonnets with which Vivaldi had entitled his “Four Seasons” in German translation before the performance began.<\/p>\n

Thus well attuned, the two musicians then took the audience on a captivating journey through two centuries and two hemispheres. Their concert program presented the “Four Seasons” by the baroque composer Vivaldi (1678-1741) as well as tangos by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1994). To the delight of the audience, Christoph Dingler explained what inspired him to creatively reinterpret, combine and fuse their works – all for two violins or the combination of violin and viola.<\/p>\n

The audience listened spellbound to these new creations full of enthusiasm, which was evident in the duo’s magnificent interpretation. The siblings played mostly fast, often dramatic movements with technical brilliance and great passion. The use of the viola in its somewhat lower register and the sound variations with pizzicati and jumping bows provided musical variety; subtleties such as a light spring thunderstorm and a violent summer storm as well as the contrasts in winter were also impressive.<\/p>\n

With its richness of detail and admirable forms, the fascinating concert offered the pleasure of old familiar pieces in a new guise as well as further discoveries. The Twiolins responded to the audience’s enthusiastic applause with “F\u00fcr Elise” by Ludwig van Beethoven, also new and beautiful for two strings.<\/p>\n

The proceeds from this concert and generous donations amounting to around 4,100 euros were donated in equal parts to Palliativnetz Tecklenburger Land e.V. and Hospizhaus Tecklenburger Land gGmbH.<\/p>\n<\/div>
