With their fresh and gripping sound, The Jakob Manz Project is one of the most successful bands of young German jazz. The band with Jakob Manz (alto saxophone), Hannes Stollsteimer (piano & keys), Frieder Klein (bass) and Paul Albrecht (drums) played their way into the hearts of their audience at numerous concerts, including major festivals such as the Leverkusener Jazztage, the LOTOS Jazz Festival (Poland) or Jazz Baltica.
Their debut album “Natural Energy was released in April 2020 by ACT Music and received terrific reviews in numerous press media and radio, including Rolling Stone, SWR2 and 3sat Kulturzeit. “Here, musical temperament, compositional and improvisational imagination, and instrumental skill combine to create an inspiring listening experience,” cheers the press.
Frieder Klein’s electric bass wanders between unshakable calm and melodious virtuosity, Paul Albrecht seems to unite several people in his energetic and at the same time transparent playing on the drums, while Hannes Stollsteimer sets both rhythmic and harmonic accents with piano and keys with enormous creativity. Above this always shines the clear, firm saxophone tone of bandleader Jakob Manz, who regularly pushes his soloistic playing to the extreme with authentic passion.
