DESCRIPTION:Tickets\n\n\nDavid Kiefer is one of the most exciting organists of his generation. On Easter Monday\, he will be playing in the parish church of St. Agatha in Mettingen\, from baroque to romantic to contemporary music\, from Bach to Olivier Messiaen. Born in Gengenbach in 1996\, he studied church music\, school music and concert organ and organ improvisation at the Freiburg University of Music. Formative teachers were Martin Schmeding\, Matthias Maierhofer\, Vincent Dubois\, David Franke and Morten Schuldt-Jensen. He deepened his penchant for the French repertoire at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris and at the Conservatoire de Toulouse with Olivier Latry and Michel Bouvard. \nIn 2024/25 Kiefer was assistant to the cathedral organist at Cologne Cathedral\, and since October 2024 he has been teaching organ and organ improvisation at the Freiburg University of Music. \nHis skills have been recognized at numerous competitions – including 1st prize at the Maria Hofer Organ Competition (2018)\, 2nd prize in Dudelange (2021)\, 1st prize at the Prix Boëllmann-Gigout Strasbourg (2022)\, several second and third prizes at renowned improvisation and interpretation competitions in Wiesbaden\, Linz\, Cologne\, Korschenbroich and Opava\, and most recently 1st prize at the Silbermann Competition Freiberg 2025\, which made him a “Young ECHO Organist 2026”.  \nKiefer has also received several academic awards – including the Deutschlandstipendium\, the Cusanuswerk scholarship\, the prize for outstanding artistic achievements in the Konzertexamen course and the Konzerthaus Prize Freiburg. \nConcert tours take him regularly at home and abroad\, including to Paris (St. Eustache)\, Versailles\, Stuttgart\, Naumburg\, Bayreuth\, Freiburg Cathedral\, Cologne Cathedral and the “Toulouse les orgues” festival. \nAn artist who shows how lively\, surprising and contemporary organ music can sound today. \nProgram: \nJohann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nToccata\, Adagio and Fugue in C major BWV 564 \nGeorg Böhm (1661-1733)\nChrist lag in Todesbanden \nJohann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)\nAllein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr BWV 664 \nImprovisation on “Bleibe bei uns\, du Wandrer durch die Zeit” (GL 325) \nOlivier Messiaen (1908-1992)\n“Joie et clarté des corps glorieux” from “Les corps glorieux” \nCharles-Marie Widor (1844-1937)\nfrom Symphony No.5\, op. 42 No.1: \nIV. Guitar virtuosos from the classical and romantic periods have enchanted listeners with their art of playing. Fernando Sor from Spain and Ferdinando Carulli from Italy are unforgettable. Their music breathes the spirit of Beethoven and Mozart.    \nIn the Brazilian national composer Heitor Villa-Lobos\, Wuttke has found a composer of the highest caliber. The Brazilian has revolutionized the sound spectrum of the instrument with new playing techniques. SUMMARY:Christoph Spering | Bach Cantatas
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\n“Giving Bach the honor” –\nthat is the guiding principle of Christoph Spering\, the well-known conductor and church musician\, when he treats the ears of his audience to his Chorus Musicus Köln and Das Neue Orchester. Christoph Spering and his ensembles have been making the early music scene sit up and take notice for more than 30 years. In 2017 they were awarded an ECHO Klassik prize for their recording of the Luther Cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach. \nThe basis of the cantatas selected for this concert from Bach’s so-called choral cantata year 1724/25 is in each case a Protestant hymn. It is usually elaborated in a triumphant opening chorus and then reappears in a simple form in the final chorale. In the middle stanzas\, Bach used arias and recitatives to create links between the traditional cantata form and a more modern variant based on Italian opera. \nChristoph Spering concentrates with his choir and orchestra on Bach cantatas\, whose selection allows a representative view of Bach’s vast cantata cosmos. Spering’s interpretations are not only coherent\, but above all lively – which comes into its own in the beautiful atmosphere of the parish church of St. Agatha in Mettingen with its very good acoustics. \nChristoph Spering sees himself as a “modern musician” who seeks new possibilities of interpretation on the basis of historically informed performance practice and with historical instruments – for performances and recordings alike. This concerns\, for example\, questions of scoring and tuning\, the role of the organ\, or the importance of pulse and tempo. Arias are enriched with dance elements\, recitatives are deprived of all their docile dryness. The tonal quality\, spatiality and transparency of voices and instruments also allow the works in his productions to be experienced in a new way. \nSpering emphasizes that his search for new approaches is not an end in itself\, but rather “to get closer to the mystery of Bach”. He became internationally known with the first recording of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion in Mendelssohn’s 1841 version. DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nVivaldi & Piazolla\nWhat do Vivaldi and Piazzolla have in common? How do the “Four Seasons” react when combined with tangos and interspersed equally? The celebrated violin duo The Twiolins with siblings Marie-Luise and Christoph Dingler have taken on these questions and created whole new “Eight Seasons” of their own. \nSpring is all about the angels\, they die and rise\, summer experiences melancholy and mysticism\, in autumn the hunting horns are stopped by a hora zero and in winter you want to tango\, back to the south. \nIt was an adventure that the Twiolins embarked on with the arrangement of the “Four Seasons” and the tangos of Piazolla\, but days and nights spent over the sheet music unleashed unprecedented creativity. Both Vivaldi and Piazzolla have undergone a transformation\, proving new aspects in this chamber music version that these great works have not shown before. This project takes the listener on a musical adventure through two centuries and hemispheres\, eliminating the boundaries between continents\, musical borders and traditions without compromising their essence. \nVivaldi’s “Four Seasons” juxtaposed with eleven contrasting tangos by Astor Piazzolla – with the Twiolins’ “Eight Seasons” the audience is invited to enjoy Vivaldi’s virtuoso piece and to let themselves be seized by Argentine longing and passion. To bring in the sound of Buenos Aires with heat\, dance and melancholy\, Christoph brought the viola into the Twiolins lineup\, with its own depth and heaviness. \nMarie-Luise and Christoph started playing the violin at the age of seven. Just four years later they took part in the national competition Jugend musiziert for the first time and achieved first place six times in the following years.
